One of the oldest amusement parks in the US, Cedar Point, has enlisted the services of the National Roller Coaster Museum and Archives (NRCMA) to help preserve two of its most iconic rides.

The Ohio park's Anton Schwarzkopf Wildcat Coaster was removed in 2011, and the installation of the soon-to-open Gatekeeper has displaced the resort's Disaster Transport (formerly Avalanche Run) ride.

In an effort to preserve the iconic attractions, both rides have been shipped to the NRCMA's archive facility in Plainview, Texas, for processing and storage.

"Both the Wildcat and Disaster Transport/Avalanche Run thrilled millions of Cedar Point guests in their history," said John Hildebrandt, Cedar Point vice president and general manager.

"We are very happy that the National Roller Coaster Museum will be able to preserve their memories."
