John Broome, the founder of Alton Towers in the UK, has unveiled plans to transform an existing theme park in the county of Cornwall into a premier European resort.

According to reports, Broome has purchased Crealy Great Adventure and nearly 200 acres of adjoining farmland.

His Camel Creek Resort project, which is due to go before Cornwall Council over the coming weeks, includes more than 230 holiday villas, courtyard properties, tree houses, a pool, spa, restaurant, pub and convention centre.

The new development would create at least 950 new full-time jobs, Broome said.
