Anakeesta theme park in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, is to undergo and massive, $6m expansion in 2020.

The expansion will include the building of a waterplay area, an interactive family area, a new restaurant and an observation tower, which will be the tallest landmark in downtown Gatlinburg.

Built on the peak of Anakeesta mountain, the new observation tower will provide guests with incredible, 36-degree panoramic views that look out towards the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Bob Bentz, co-founder and co-owner of Anakeesta, commented on the new observation tower: “Our iconic tower will be the crowning element on top of Anakeesta mountain.

“Visitors travel from all over the world to enjoy the beauty of Smoky Mountains and now they will be able to experience 360-degree panoramic views right in the heart of downtown Gatlinburg.”

The theme park will also be home to a musical stage, additional pit fires, a Tennesse-themed waterfall, extra seating and new restroom facilities. Seating around 300 visitors, the new restaurant will double the theme park’s dining capacity.
