In its most recent financial posting, the company announced a 32 per cent drop (€28.1m) in net profit for the year to September 30, but reported brisk business in its ski resorts business, which was boosted by early snowfall.

Chairman Jean-Pierre Sonois said the drop was largely due to timing of acquisitions in 2006. "After two years of heavy acquisitions…we now have to manage our portfolio and improve the profitability of the businesses we have acquired," he said.

Traffic at its theme parks had also risen 12.5 per cent in the first two and a half months of its 2007/08 financial year and it expected a further boost following the opening of Parc Asterix in France at Christmas for the first time in its history.
