European leisure destination operator Compagnie des Alpes (CDA) has sold Fort Fun amusement park in Germany to Looping Group for €7m ($7.6m).

Located in Bestwig, 90km east of Dortmund, Fort Fun is a Wild West-themed amusement park with a range of roller coasters and water rides.

According to CDA, the park generated revenues of €5.9m ($6.4m) and welcomed more than 265,000 visitors in 2016.

“The sale of Fort Fun is consistent with the strategy, announced at the end of 2013, to refocus the scope of the group’s sites on those with the ability to boost their reputation from regional to national, if not international,” the French group said in a statement.

“The sale will have an immaterial impact on the income statement over the full year, as interim losses – recognised at the beginning of the season when the park makes little revenue – will be offset by the capital gain on disposal.”

Owned by Ergon Capital Partners, Looping Group operates 12 amusement parks, waterparks, wildlife parks and aquariums across Europe, including The Aquarium of Saint Malo and Mini-Châteaux Park in France; Aquaparc in Switzerland; Avonturenpark Hellendoorn in the Netherlands; and the UK’s Pleasurewood Hills.
