Cedar Fair, which owns 11 amusement parks, seven water parks and six hotels across North America, said its largest investment will be on three new roller coasters, including a 230-foot-tall steel coaster at Kings Island in Cincinnati, Ohio.

New roller coasters also are being added at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, Missouri, and at Carowinds in Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition, several parks will open new shows next year, including a new ice skating show at Dorney Park in Pennsylvania.

Stacey Frole, a spokeswoman for Cedar Fair, said that individual parks could make further announcements in the coming weeks, but that the cost would be included in the $62m. She said the amount of total spending for 2009 is not unusual but is below the average range of $80m to $90m.
