One of the UK's best-loved roller coasters celebrated its 21st birthday this month, with the help of theme park enthusiasts from the Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain (RCCGB).

In a weekend filled with twists and turns, the RCCGB descended upon Drayton Manor Theme Park on October 4 to take on the much-loved ride, Shockwave, enjoying exclusive time on Europe's only stand-up roller coaster.

Launched in 1994, Shockwave thrills its passengers with a series of corkscrews, loops and twists.

Over the past two decades, the ride has seen over nine million guests pass through the gates, taking on the loops and thrills of the first and only coaster of its kind in Europe.

William Bryan, managing director of Drayton Manor, said: "We're so pleased to have the RCCGB back with us again to celebrate the ride's 21st birthday. Shockwave is one of our best-loved and longest standing roller coasters here at Drayton Manor."
