Chester Zoo has announced that it will close on Monday 18 July and Tuesday 19 July due to the extreme weather which has arrived to the UK.

Zoo bosses say they took the decision to close while the red ‘risk to life’ warning is in place in order to safeguard staff, visitors, animals and plants.

Record temperatures are predicted for the country this week and there is already an amber warning in place.

Therefore, Chester Zoo have taken this action for the welfare of all connected.

The Zoo posted numerous tweets to inform guests of their decision: “Due to the extreme heat forecast on Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 July, we will be closed for the safety of our staff, visitors, animals and plants.”

If you have pre-booked tickets on these dates, your ticket will automatically be extended until July 2023, just keep hold of your booking confirmation.

“We plan to be back open as usual on Wednesday, but for now, our team of dedicated keepers will of course, make sure all of the animals and plants are safely cared for.”
