Compagnie des Alpes, a leading player in the European leisure industry, has sealed a deal that sees the French ski resort operator acquire 100% of the shares in Austria’s leading leisure site, Familypark,

Familypark has over 80 themed rides and attractions, a petting zoo, fairy-tale forest and multiple catering facilities.

It is located at Neusiedl Lake, a popular tourist region less than an hour from Vienna. Being in close proximity to Vienna, the park is easily accessed from both Slovakia and Hungary, where approximately 30% of the site’s visitors come from.

Welcoming 716,000 visitors through its doors, in 2018 Familypark generated a €19.1m revenue, with an EBITDA of €6.8m.

Familypark’s acquisition with Compagnie des Alpes has an enterprise value of €72.5m.

Dominique Marcel, Compagnie des Alpes’ chairman and chief executive officer, said:

“This acquisition is perfectly in line with the strategy that the Group has deployed over several years in our parks. It will reinforce the geographical coverage of our very coherent park portfolio.

“We are, therefore, very pleased to welcome Familypark amongst our sites.  In this context, the Group will continue its efforts to seize value-creating acquisition opportunities.”
