Compagnie des Alpes, the European theme parks and ski resorts operator, said revenues and earnings remained flat in the first quarter of fiscal 2010.

Sales for the company, which operates many theme parks and ski resorts across Europe, including the Walibi parks and Bellewaerde, were up 0.4 per cent to E89m, while group earnings dipped by 1.8 per cent.

"Sales from leisure parks were down 3.8 per cent," commented the operator, "a decline explained mainly by fewer visitors to Belgian parks. The poor performance of these parks is the result of several external factors: the Toussaint school holidays schedule, public transport strikes, and particularly challenging weather conditions."
