Both attraction parks in Coney Island, New York, are reopening on April 9, 2021. Luna Park and Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park have been closed since 2019.

The parks didn’t open for the whole of the 2020 season because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

US Senator Charles Schumer spoke about the imminent reopening of the attraction sites: “After a long and painful year of social isolation, New Yorkers are eager to get back to the boardwalk and enjoy a Nathan’s hotdog under the Wonder Wheel and Cyclone.

“As a native son of Brooklyn, I’m proud to see this quintessentially New York attraction open this year,” Schumer added.

On reopening, Luna Island is donating 500 admission wristbands to hospital staff and their families in the local Brooklyn community to show its support for frontline workers. 100 staff from Brooklyn hospitals will also have the honour of being the first to ride the Coney Island Cyclone on opening day.

There will be a number of new family-friendly rides available to experience at Luna Park on opening day, including Circus Candy, Rainbowheel, Fire Patrol, Grand Prix, AeroMax and Mini Mouse.
