Disneyland has announced it is to carry out an “ambitious reimagining” of Mickey’s Toontown. The renovated attraction will be launched in early 2023 at the same time the new ride, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is set to debut.
The new-look Mickey’s Toontown will feature a greater number of play activities and attractions, including the CenTOONial Park, space which is centred on two play experiences.
One such sensory experience is a fountain equipped with water tables. The fountain will be located close to a dreaming tree, which has been inspired by a tree in Walt Disney’s hometown. The tree will feature sculpted tree roots enabling youngster to crawl, play and explore.
The announcement of the refurbishment of Toontown was made during IAAPA Expo 2021, which took place in November in Orlando.
Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney parks, experiences and products, shared the news, stating: “We are so excited to leverage Disney’s powerful brand, develop new stories and share even more magical experiences with our guests.
“The newly reimaged Mickey’s Toontown will be a welcoming place where families and younger guests can connect and play together in fun new ways.”
