The Royal Group, a Cambodian business conglomerate, plans to create Asia’s first environmentally-planned resort island, with a view to attracting international tourists to the country’s extensive southern coastline.
The company, which already owns hotels and resorts in the region, is to develop an ecologically sustainable resort on the island of Koh Rong – accessible by boat from the coastal city of Sihanoukville.

The Cambodian government has granted The Royal Group a 99-year lease on the 78,000sq.m island to advance the plan. The development will include luxury resorts, several leisure projects and a marina.
