Eleven Arches, a charity designed to produce world-class shows to establish Bishop Auckland in the north east of England as an international tourist destination, plans to build a daytime leisure park themed as “travel through time.”

The themed leisure park would be an extension of the Kynren concept, Eleven Arches’ live summer family entertainment that takes audiences on an enthralling 90-minute outdoor theatre journey, as a crew of 1,000 tell a 2,000-year tale of the history of England.

The Kynren Park themed leisure site will combine indoor and outdoor spectacles with immersive experiences, complementing the Kynren night show and turn Bishop Auckland into a two-day tourist destination.

Coinciding with plans to develop further daytime attractions, was the recent appointment of Stephen Hall as Eleven Arches’ new chairman.

Durham-born Hall is a senior partner at Deloitte UK’s Newcastle office. He will be taking over the role of chairman from Jonathan Ruffer, founder of Eleven Arches.

“I’ve always been passionate about the theatre, the arts and heritage so having the opportunity to indulge all my passions together is thrilling,” said Stephen Hall.

“This new appointment will also give me the chance to help people achieve their aspirations and I am really looking forward to working together with such a great team to build on their success and help develop it in the coming years,” Hall added.
