At the World Waterpark Association’s Annual Symposium and Trade Show – or WWA Show – in Las Vegas this October, the new Epic Waters indoor waterpark in Texas picked up a Leading Edge Award. Located in the city of Grand Prairie, the park was realised by a team including American Resort Management, WhiteWater, OpenAire and Ramaker.

WhiteWater’s contribution showcases an impressive slide complex (as pictured below) that is home to several firsts, both in the United States and the world. One of the park’s most striking features is its Constrictor + Boomerango fusion – a combination of two slides that is world’s first inner tube fusion slide.

Epic Waters is also home to the 69-feet high LassoLoop, the tallest indoor AquaLoop in the United States, and the AquaNaut, North America’s very first 2-person inner tube AquaSphere. In addition, the park houses a 4-lane mat racing Whizzard slide named the E Racers, a Freefall slide that allows riders to free fall over 60ft at an incredible speed of 38 miles per hour, and Rascal’s Roundup, an AquaPlay 1050 structure.

The 80,000 square feet facility is the largest indoor waterpark under a single retractable roof in the United States. This project is a testament to the success achieved from the public and private sectors working together. The city of Grand Prairie’s citizens voted for a quarter-cent sales tax to fund the project, while private vendors behind the development collaborated with the city to create a “dream park” for citizens.

The WWA’s Leading Edge Awards are presented to individuals and parks for creativity in the development of new themes, facilities, programs, services or products and operati
