Although full details are yet to be revealed, the central feature will be a major new coaster, explained Michael Mack in a recent interview with InterPark.

"For 2009, we have scheduled the largest expansion of Europa-Park since its opening in 1975," he said. "On an area of 15 hectares, which is located next to the Scandinavian and Portuguese themed areas, there will be a new themed area, which features an absolute highlight for all thrill-seekers. A new roller coaster, built by Mack Rides, with an impressive speed-up from 0-100kph in 2.5 seconds, will be opened at the beginning of the summer season 2009.

"This development is only possible with the construction of a new connection road to Europa Park’s main parking lot, which will offer a better infrastructure for the guests and also a significant improvement for the backstage area from the end of 2008 on."

Look out for will have a full feature on Europa-Park in the Autumn issue of InterPark.
