Miami is to be home to its first true eco-adventure park. A $300 million reimagined “Jungle Island” is planned to open in 2022.

The park will feature an aerial adventure course with zip lines, close-up animal encounters, one-of-a-kind entertainment, and nightlife. There will also be a new hotel on the 18.5-acre site that will sit on Miami’s waterfront.

ESJ Capital Partners (ESJ), a commercial real estate firm and a registered investment advisor based in Miami, has secured approval to move forward with the project.

Jungle Island is a creative reimagining of the historic ‘Jungle Island’ zoological theme park and botanical gardens that were built in 1936. The park is located on Watson Island.

The new Jungle Island will preserve the historic elements that has made the original zoological theme park a favourite destination for almost a century. It will however feature modern aspects to cater for the 21st century guest.

Arnaud Sitbon, CEO of ESJ, said: “Florida is finally getting its first true eco-adventure park, where nature and wildlife provide inspiration for guests to explore, play, challenge themselves physically, or simply relax.

“Best of all, it’s going to be in a city that is one of the world’s top-rated travel destinations, just minutes from Miami’s top-rated beaches and attractions. It’s a privilege to have the honour of breathing new life into this much-beloved landmark, and our hope is that it will spark appreciation and respect for nature and our planet’s precious wildlife,” Sitbon added.
