The first phase of the Nantong Yangtze River Aircraft Carrier International Tourism Resort in China is scheduled to begin in January 2021 with a total investment of 16bn yuan (approx. US$2.3bn).

The first phase of the site is expected to open in May 2022.

The resort will include a theme park, circus theatre, hotel, and a commercial area. The planning and design of the site is being carried out by the US company, RVJMA, specialists in the planning and design of theme, mixed-use retail and hospitality projects, and Shanghai CCDI, the Chinese architecture and engineering consulting firm.

The initial stage of the first phase of the project includes the construction of Wolf Mountain Exploration Bay and an education base comprising of aircraft carriers. The second phase includes a theme park, supporting hotel, circus theatre and commercial district. The third stage is reserved for cultural and tourism projects.

The site is expected to attract around seven million visitors a year after the opening of phases 1 and 2.
