Galaxy Entertainment Group, a major player in Macau’s casino market, is planning to enter the theme park sector, according to the company’s chairman, Lui Che-Woo.

In an interview with Bloomberg Business, Che-Woo said the next two phases for his company’s $11bn Galaxy Macau project will include “something special and high-tech”, similar to the blockbuster movie, Avatar.

“Nowadays you already see that all these theme parks all have different special ideas,” Che-Woo told Bloomberg, “so we’re thinking of how to compete against them.”
