The Kartrite Resort and Indoor Waterpark – aka the largest waterpark in New York – has officially opened to the public. To mark the official opening, on Friday May 10, a grand opening ceremony took place at the park.

The event was attended by the Kartrite Resort’s owners, as well as the designers and developers the Aquatic Development Group (ADG), and a number of state and local officials.

The Kartrite Resort and Indoor Waterpark is located in the town of Thomspon, New York, on the Resorts World Catskills campus.

The project cost $150m, with the new resort and waterpark spanning a vast two acres. The four-season waterpark covers 87,000 square feet.

The waterpark was designed with a tropical theme, with lush landscaping and ample cabanas and decking space. Topping off the design, ADG installed a first-of-its-kind, barrel-shaped Texlon ETFE transparent roof, which creates an 80-degree temperature every day of the year.

New York’s largest waterpark comprises of five waterslides from ProSlide, an action river, a FlowRider, children’s activity pool and a mezzanine with a bar and grill.

During the opening ceremony, Greg Silver, president & CEO of EPR Properties, was quick to praise ADG.

“As you can see from this beautiful property, as well as with their portfolio of other successful properties, we know we made the right choice in choosing ADG as our partner, they are first class, best in the country and that’s the quality of product we were looking to deliver here at the Kartrite,” said Silver.

Ken Ellis, ADG’s CEO, commented:

“This is a truly unique waterpark experience. The design and resort-like atmosphere really caters to the adults, while the amount of thrills and in-water fun is guaranteed to keep the kids active and happy. It’s a place that the entire family can fully appreciate and enjoy.”
