According to Universal, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be a ‘theme park within a theme park’, in which guests will be able to visit some of the locations from the books and films, including the village of Hogsmeade, the Forbidden Forest and Hogwarts Castle.

"Over the years we’ve received thousands of letters from fans around the world wishing they could visit Hogwarts and the wonderful locations described in each of JK Rowling’s beloved stories," said Barry Meyer, chairman and CEO of Warner Bros Entertainment.

"Working with Universal Orlando Resort, we are confident that we’ll be able to provide Harry Potter fans with an incredible experience that upholds the richness of JK Rowling’s books and delivers on the authentic detail portrayed in our films."

In addition to a 150ft-high recreation of Hogwarts Castle, attractions likely to be included are the Hogwarts Express locomotive and Harry Potter-themed shops and restaurants.

Speaking on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross in the UK earlier this month, Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger in the films, said she has been involved with the park. "We filmed a scene for one of the rides," she said. "It’s going to be interactive and we’re going to talk to you."
