Members submitted their final votes earlier this month over whether IAAPA should absorb its smaller counterpart in order to be able to explore numerous future synergies in the global amusements industry.

Speaking to InterPark earlier this morning, Sarah DiCello, communications and marketing manager for IALEI, said the votes were counted yesterday (Wednesday) in Louisiana. "Although I’m not sure of exact numbers, the majority of members voted in favour of the merger," she said.

The finalised merger/dissolution agreement follows months of talks between the IALEI and IAAPA boards, wherein a special task force was appointed to discuss the possibilities of the deal.

In July the boards of both groups expressed their support of the merger to their members and the wider amusements industry, contingent on the resolution of several contractual matters.

IAAPA was not available for immediate comment, although it is anticipated that the group will release an official statement later today. Full details to follow.
