The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) has opened its first ever Mainland China representative office, and its second base in the Asia-Pacific region.

Located in Puxi, the historic centre of Shanghai, the new office will support the attractions industry in China and beyond through education and professional development, information dissemination, research, education, advocacy and networking events.

“China has been experiencing tremendous growth in the attractions industry and we are excited to open a regional office in Shanghai,” notes IAAPA president and CEO, Paul Noland. “This will allow us to further support our local participants and connect them with our global participants. We would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, Shanghai Municipal Tourism Administration, Shanghai Public Security Bureau and Shanghai Shendi Group [operator of Shanghai Disney Resort] for their support in helping us establish this office.”

IAAPA already has regional offices in Hong Kong, Brussels (representing Europe, the Middle East and Africa), Mexico City (Latin America) and Orlando (the USA). The association’s annual Asian Attractions Expo takes place this year in Hong Kong from June 5 to 8.
