The town of Husavik in Iceland plans to develop a museum that is centred on the movie created by Netflix known as Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.

Husavik was a leading location for the filming of the movie, which was released in 2020 starring Rachel McAdams and Will Ferrell.

The Icelandic town secured 2 million ISK ($15,840) in funding to open a temporary museum, designed to heighten tourism in the region.

The new Eurovision museum will be located in the building that was home to the Exploration Museum, which has been open for two years. The former museum is likely to become a permanent exhibition at the new museum.

The idea for the project was born by entrepreneur Orly Orlyson, who wants to split the museum into three distinct sections – one for the movie, another for the Eurovision Song Contest and one for Songvakeppnin.

“We saw that following the movie a window of opportunity opened to make something more around the story of Eurovision. The movie speaks to a certain niche group of fans and we want to get them to Husavik,” said Orly Orlyson.
