The Jurassic World VelocICoaster, dubbed as the tallest, fastest and most intense launch coaster in Florida, has opened at Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure.

The VelociCoaster is the first coaster in the world to be themed on Jurassic Park and Jurassic World. The coaster sends riders into a dinosaur habitat as they are speed across 4,700 feet of track at 70mph, down steep inclines and an 80-degree drop.

The coaster was conceived by Universal Creative, designers and developers of compelling entertainment experiences, in partnership with filmmakers Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Colin Trevorrow.

Riders are immersed in Jurassic labyrinth, comprising of 36,000 square feet of rockwork, lush jungle vegetation and a giant waterfall. They are taken through a raptor paddock before being thrust through extreme manoeuvres at high speeds and over a 360-degree inversion over a lagoon.

Adding to the thrill of the Jurassic World VelociCoaster is the fact it doesn’t use brakes until the end. Consequently, there is no slowing down. It is also Universal’s fastest rollercoaster and has more airtime than any other Universal coaster.
