Merlin Entertainments’ Madame Tussauds outlet in Sydney, Australia, has added an interactive Justice League experience following the introduction of the concept two months earlier at Madame Tussauds Orlando.

Visitors in Sydney, however, also get to meet a new character: The Flash. Throughout the walk-through Justice League: A Call For Heroes exhibit, guests can engage with the superheroes and bring their powers to life through interactive sequences using combinations of projection mapping, enhanced audio and SFX.

To interact with The Flash, guests need to trigger his super speed by running alongside him as fast as they can to unlock the immersive sequence of projection, lighting effects and SFX including sound and wind. Other characters in the experience include Wonder Woman, Superman and Batman.

Working alongside Merlin Magic Making, UK technology experience designer Holovis was again brought on board to produce and deliver the AV, show lighting and interactive elements, while US company Daniel’s Wood Land created the themed environments.

“The level of interaction with the figures is one of the most immersive and unique experiences ever produced by the Madame Tussauds brand worldwide,” notes Holovis creative director, Peter Cliff. “To ensure that the characters and the guests are the star of the show, we’ve used invisible technologies to facilitate this experience, with guests carrying out the motion-based tasks entirely naturally then being amazed by the immersive scenes that engulf them.”
