Kalahari Resorts and Conventions intends to located its newest property in the city of Round Rock, Texas, owner Todd Nelson said last week.

The expansion will mark the company’s first resort and convention centre in the Southwest and fourth destination overall, joining similar facilities in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, Sandusky, Ohio, and the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania.

According to Nelson, the Round Rock location will mirror the company’s existing resorts, will be authentically African-themed and will include up to 1,000 guest rooms, indoor and outdoor waterparks, restaurants, a family entertainment centre, spa and convention centre

“We are incredibly excited to bring our authentically African resort experience to the Southwest for the first time,” Nelson said. “The city of Round Rock has been incredibly welcoming, and we look forward to finalising plans to officially become a part of this great community.”

Round Rock, with a population of around 100,000, is located 15 miles north of Austin in the Central Texas hill country.
