Walibi Rhône-Alpes celebrates its 45th anniversary with the grand opening of their newest attraction, MAHUKA, a cutting-edge single-rail roller coaster on June 15.

MAHUKA, meaning ‘escape’ in Hawaiian, takes visitors on a journey through the heart of an abandoned temple dedicated to the God of Fire on a secluded island in the South Pacific. But beware—provoke the God’s sacred fire, and you risk becoming a prisoner of the temple! This unforgettable ride promises a unique blend of excitement and adventure.
Innovative Design
Intamin, the coaster’s manufacturer, describes the Hot Racer model as an innovative single-rail roller coaster designed to maximize thrills within a compact space. With slender trains and a flexible track design, the Hot Racer offers unparalleled creativity in layout, incorporating thrilling elements within a limited footprint.
Adrenaline-Pumping Experience
Prepare for an adrenaline rush as MAHUKA features two launches and in-line seating positioned close to the track, delivering a high-speed, immersive experience. The ride’s ‘backboned’ track design reduces the number of supports needed, enhancing the aesthetic appeal with its iconic double top-hat.
Custom-Themed and Comfortable Trains
MAHUKA’s custom-themed trains provide high comfort and freedom with Intamin’s acclaimed LSM seat design, considered one of the most comfortable coaster seats available. The seats have been enhanced with new padding to accommodate riders as small as 120 cm (4 ft). The in-line seating configuration and the absence of over-the-shoulder restraints ensure quick boarding and disembarking, offering a liberating sense of openness and maximum comfort.
Enhanced Features
Building on the success of its predecessor at Luna Park in Australia, MAHUKA incorporates significant enhancements. The refined chassis ensures better ride comfort and a more precise fit to the track. Additionally, new carbon fiber lap bars contribute to a lighter train and lower center of gravity, providing an even smoother ride experience.
