This past 17 May was a day marked in the calendar for all connected with Legoland Germany with the celebration of its 20th year.

And to christen the milestone, the park has unveiled plans to hold the world’s first Legoland Parade.

A spokesperson for the park discusses further its anniversary celebrations: “Two decades of family fun and action in Günzburg, Bavaria. A lot has happened since May 17, 2002: New rides and attractions, new Lego models and brilliant events. In the anniversary season, Legoland Germany is putting the crown on it: The world’s first Legoland Parade celebrates its premiere on May 21st – with colourful costumes, its own song and suitable dance choreography. The park is celebrating 20 years of Legoland Germany with this world premiere.”

The celebrations unveiled include themed floats, a parade premiere and getting to know new Legoland children’s favourites await visitors. A three-dimensional souvenir album in the form of 20 birthday columns in the park illustrates the great development of Legoland over the last 20 years.

In addition, a gift hunt, flash mobs, shows in the Lego Arena and a minifigures exchange offer colourful birthday fun for young and old.

20 years ago, Germany’s only Legoland amusement park opened its doors in Günzburg. The Swabian district town prevailed over 300 other locations. Legoland Germany opened its doors providing seven themed areas, over 40 attractions and models made from over 50 million Lego bricks. Guests from over 120 nations have experienced the park.

Managing Director Manuela Stone stated: “I am proud of what we have achieved in the last 20 years! The dedication and commitment of the entire Legoland team is one of the most important pillars of this success. The investments of our parent company Merlin Entertainments in the entire resort clearly show the potential of our location as well as the great trust in the German Legoland team!”
