After over a year of reconstruction, Méga Parc at the Galeries de la Capitale shopping mall in Quebec City has opened with a striking new look.

Families and adrenaline junkies will experience a surreal Steampunk/industrial world as they step foot inside the park, which was relaunched by mall operator Oxford Properties on January 18 after a CA$52 million revamp. The facility is the largest indoor amusement park in Québec as well as the second largest in Canada.

It now features a total of 18 “electrifying” rides and experiences – as pictured. Four of these are refurbished, the rest are all brand new. These include Zénith, a spokeless Ferris Wheel from Larson International that is the first of its kind in North America. Another hotly anticipated attraction is the Télégraphe, a 40-feet high Cloud Coaster by Extreme Engineering that glides right through the spokeless wheel.

One of the retained attractions from the former Méga Parc is Electro, a 30-year-old Mack rollercoaster previously known as Capitale Express. Other ride manufacturers now represented include Moser, SBF/Visa and Zamperla in addition to Triotech, which provided an XD dark ride theatre, and iPlayCo.

Méga Parc also features a 750ft ice skating circuit that is the longest indoor skating trail in Canada. State-of-the-art lighting and sound, a giant screen, a stage for shows and a water fountain offer up a dazzling display of water and light. The venue also features three rooms fully equipped for children’s parties and private events. The entire amusement park can even be rented out for corporate events!

”Locals are going to love this new entertainment offering,” predicts Stéphan Landry, general manager of Galeries de la Capitale. “It will also be a big draw for tourists and people visiting the Québec City area, especially since it’s an indoor activity families can enjoy all year-round.”

“The new Méga Parc is an incredible attraction that will help redefine the entire customer experience at Galeries de la Capitale,” adds Bradley Jones, head of retail at Oxford Properties Group. “Retail is changing, and the mall is no longer simply just a place to shop but a destination to enjoy world-class experiences across fashion, food and entertainment.”
