Moonraker VFX, a VFX studio based in Bristol which crates visual effects and CGI content for film and amusement attractions, is to launch its first original film for the planetarium market.

Moonbase: The Next Step is an immersive 4k Fulldome experience which will take viewers on a memorable lunar experience. The film will be released this summer.

The film, which was a year in the making, combines Moonraker’s creative vision and passion for science and natural history TV, with their extensive experience in immersive visitor attractions.

The attraction will position viewers into the hostile environment of the moon as they are taken on an immersive exploration of space.

Simon Clarke, co-founder and creative director at Moonraker, commented:

“As a studio, we’ve thrived on the creative challenge that comes with breaking into a new market. Combining the two elements of cinematic visuals and the dome screen can be incredibly powerful – not only enhancing the storytelling experience but immersing visitors in breath-taking worlds of astronomy and planetary science that feel almost tangible. We’re looking forward to stretching the boundaries of what’s possible in this space.”

Sharing his enthusiasm of the project, Jon Grafton, co-founder and managing director at Moonraker said:

“This is an incredibly exciting milestone for the business and having the ability to create our own licensable content is a core part of a growth strategy.”
