August 16 was National Roller Coaster Day, and to celebrate, Morey’s Piers, the classic seaside attraction located on the boardwalk of the Wildwoods, New Jersey, gave out free rides, slides and thrills to 750 treasure hunters.

The historic seaside amusement park buried 1,500 golden tickets in 750 tin boxes in various locations throughout the beaches of the Wildwoods, Ocean City, Cape May, Sea Isle, Avalon, Stone Harbor, Margate and Ventnor.

The ultimate summer treasure hunt, beach goers prepared to dig a little ended up with a free amusement-filled day of roller coasters, teacup rides and lazy river rides at Morey’s Piers.

Each buried tin contained one to four golden tickets, redeemable for one same-day combination pass for the amusement rides and waterparks. Beach areas containing buried golden tickets were marked with a bright green shovel and tag labelled ‘dig deep, strike gold’.
