Aimed at developing two new innovative rides to heighten the appeal of location-based entertainment showcasing at Lionsgate film properties, the Thinkwell Group has partnered with CAVU Designwerks, DreamCraft Attractions and Framestore.

Known as the Twilight Saga: Midnight Ride and the Hunger Games: Mockingjay Flight Rebel Escape, the new attractions will launch this year at Lionsgate Entertainment World in China.

Lionsgate Entertainment World is a pioneering indoor immersive entertainment destination. The venue features a number of state-of-the-art VR, AR, and multimedia attractions, as well as showcasing performances, and enabling visitors to dine and shop for memorabilia of Lionsgate’s popular film franchises.

The Twilight Saga: Midnight Ride is an action-packed, hyper-reality VR experience set in the world of The Twilight Saga.

The Midnight Ride, according to Terry Sanderson, vice president producer at DreamCraft Attractions, is a “VR motorcycle simulator that features real motorcycles, avatar embodiment and proprietary Predictive Ride TrackingTM.”

“Dreamcraft has created a world’s first virtual ride path with real-time virtual motorcycle physics matched with real world motorcycles and motion bases.

“The media Framestore has delivered is state-of-the-art providing an adrenaline pumping experience,” Sanderson added.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Flight Rebel Escape takes thrill-seekers into the world of The Hunger Games. The simulator is entirely electric and is the first enclosed motion simulator in mainland China.

Peter Schnabel, CEO of CAVU, spoke of the collaboration, commenting:

“CAVU and DreamCraft are excited to have collaborated with Lionsgate, Thinkwell and Framestore to introduce these revolutionary attractions to the industry at Lionsgate Entertainment World”

Mark Stepanian, vice president of innovation and engineering at CAVU, describes the Midnight Ride as a “first-of-its kind” attraction.

“Guests can move throughout the Twilight world and interact with friends, family and familiar characters from a highly responsive motion base.

“Coupled with force feedback haptics, wind and scent, it is designed to fully engage all the senses. This ride makes for a truly ground-breaking experience,” said Stepanian.
