Osaka Governor Toru Hashimoto said he plans to urge Paramount to build a theme park at the site of the suspended Expoland amusement park, which filed for bankruptcy in October.

Paramount Pictures approached the Osaka government about redeveloping the 20-hectare Expoland site in August.

The company scrapped plans in 2004 to build a theme park in the south-western prefecture of Fukuoka was abandoned because of the high cost, the Yomiuri said.
