Blackpool Pleasure Beach has released the first tickets to ride its much anticipated new £16m ($22m) rollercoaster, Icon.
The limited edition boarding cards – which are available to purchase online here – provide thrill-seekers with the opportunity to ride the UK’s first double launch roller coaster when it is unveiled to the public in Spring 2018.
Set to be the world’s most interactive rollercoaster, Icon will propel riders to heights of 88.5ft, with drops of up to 82ft, reaching the same levels of acceleration felt by the driver of a Formula 1 car.
The news comes as the construction of Icon picks up pace, with the completion of a cofferdam tunnel, buried six metres underground where a number of high quality special effects will be stored before propelling riders back into daylight, comes to a close.
Managing director of Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Amanda Thompson OBE, said: “Icon is already making its mark on the park and new developments can be spotted daily.
“As the build takes shape, excitement is really growing, so we’ve launched these exclusive Boarding Cards to give visitors their first taste of the Icon experience ready for when it’s unveiled in spring 2018.”
