Opened over the Memorial Day Weekend, the new Category 5 Rapids are the largest single investment in the 110-year history of Quassy Amusement & Waterpark in Middlebury, Connecticut.

An official opening ceremony was held on Saturday, May 26. Attendance the ribbon-cutting were (pictured above, from the left) Quassy lifeguard Maddie Jensen, State Senator Eric Berthel, Quassy owners Eric Anderson, George Frantzis II and Catherine Frantzis; David Krechevsky, Waterbury Regional Chamber public policy and economic development director, plus Quassy lifeguard Margot Gaggini.

The three gigantic water raft rides by ProSlide bring to 15 the number of waterslides in Quassy’s Splash Away Bay waterpark. Yolanda Cortes of Hartford, Connecticut (pictured) was one of the first to officially ride the extreme waterslides.
