Sally Dark Rides, specialists in creating family ride experiences, has teamed up with Daniels Wood Land, experts in themed fabrications, to co-create a new dark ride known as ‘Treasure Hunt: The Ride’.

The new pirate-themed interactive dark ride is located in Cannery Row in Monterey Bay, California.

The attraction boasts hand-crafted set pieces, alongside animatronics and special effects, as guests are taken on a pirate adventure.

The attraction involves riders exploring a newly discovered labyrinth of caverns situated underneath Cannery Row. According to legend, the caverns were once a hideout of the infamous Pirate Captain Hippolyte Bouchard and his crew, the place where they hid their treasure.

Riders step unto ‘Cavern Car’ vehicles and ‘Treasure Collector’ devices as a means of exploring the underground tunnels. Riders are forced to defend themselves against danger as they traverse through rising tide sea monsters and a crew of skeletons, hunting for the hidden treasure.

This is the first time Sally Dark Rides and Daniels Wood Land have partnered on the co-ownership and production of an attraction.

John Wood CEO, Sally Dark Rides, commented on the partnership: We have always been impressed with the scenic style and capabilities of the incredible artists and craftsmen from Daniels Wood Land. To work with them to create a one-of-a-kind pirate adventure in Monterey is something we were excited about from the moment we heard about the opportunity,” said Wood.

Treasure Hunt: The Ride will open at Cannery Row in Monterey Bay in 2022.
