The 480-member committee is responsible for 17 standards throughout the domestic amusement industry, covering design, manufacture, maintenance, inspection, operations and more.

Seay, an active member of ASTM since 1989, said he was "honoured" to lead the committee as it focuses on "developing and improving standards that have such a profound global effect."

"The diverse talent that makes up the committee is passionate regarding guest and worker safety and the high quality of the product demonstrates that fact," he said.
