It has been announced that the £20 million motorcar heritage interactive attraction known as the Silverstone Experience will open on July 9, 2019 at Silverstone in Northamptonshire, home of British motor racing.

Visitors will be taken on an immersive and interactive 2.5-hour journey through Britain’s motor racing history up until the present day, in this STEM-orientated attraction.

Motor racing fans will be able to enjoy watching stories of engineering innovation, legendary sporting contests and human endeavour through a series of film, imagery and interactive displays.

Sally Reynolds, CEO of the Silverstone Heritage Limited charity, spoke of the impending launch of the Silverstone Experience.

“After seven years of hard work we are tremendously excited to announce that we will open the doors of the Silverstone Experience to the public on July 9,” Reynolds commented.

The £20million project involved the rescuing and refurbishing of a Wellington Bombar Hangar from the Second World War, which is located at the entrance to the Silverstone Circuit. The refurbished hangar comprises of a 4000 metre-squared space which houses the new visitor attraction.

The National Lottery Heritage Fund awarded a grant of £9.1 million to the project.

At the end of the Silverstone Experience, visitors will watch an immersive show of racing heroes at Silverstone called ‘The Ultimate Lap of Silverstone’ with commentary by Murray Walker.
