SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment, specialists in the design, building and operation of special F/X driven cinematic attractions, has announced its latest BBC Earth Release, Octopus: Blue Planet II 4D Experience.

The special effects show focuses on the octopus. It lasts for 12 minutes and highlights the extraordinary behaviour of octopus and how it uses physical and mental strength to outwit and escape its underwater rivals. The experience also explores other creatures of the ocean, including the pyjama shark and sally lightfoot crab.

The experience has been developed from BBC Earth’s much-loved Blue Planet II television series.

The new 4D Experience debuted at John G. Shedd Aquarium on May 28, 2021. To develop the multi-sensory experience, SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment collaborated with Shedd Aquarium.

Kate Magnusson, vice president of partnerships and marketing at SimEx-Iwerks, commented: “This collaboration with our long-term partner, Shedd Aquarium, is a great example of how we work closely with our 4D Theatre partners to deliver exciting shows that resonate with guests.

“The addition of this show to the aquarium’s highly successful 4D Theatre creates a powerful lineup of films for Shedd’s guests this summer.”

Octopus: Blue Planet II 4D Experience is now available to 4D theatres worldwide.
