The park has been closed for almost 30 months following Hurricane Katrina, which wrought devastation across that region of the US.

Now, overgrown with brush and a forlorn sight, the park’s future is in doubt, with Mayor Ray Nagin saying in a recent interview: "I don’t see that reopening."

Six Flags spokeswoman Lisa Brown confirmed that "it would be closed as of right now," though while she confirmed it would be unlikely to reopen, "never say never" was the message she told reporters.
