A 38-acre winter theme park is being planned for the temperate city of Phoenix, Arizona, US.

The project – the brainchild of Catalyst Land Holdings, which is the vehicle of businessmen Craig Campbell and Chadwic Gifford – would occupy a site next to an old landfill.

A Catalyst spokesperson told the Associated Press: "Our plan is to provide an experience that allows children to build snowmen, sled down a hill or have a good old-fashioned snowball fight, even when it is over 100 degrees outside."
