The world’s first theme park focused wholly on robots and cutting-edge technologies will open in 2012, according to sources.

Robot Land, the world’s first theme park dedicated to robots, will soon break ground in Incheon, South Korea. The venue will include exhibition halls, a ‘robot experience’ hall, learning facilities and other entertainment spaces.

The news quickly follows separate – although somewhat ambitious – reports that the South Korean government is planning to send English-teaching robots into its schools.

According to technophile gadget blog io9, after ongoing trials the country will spend approximately $45m for an ‘R-Learning’ programme on placing a range of robotic teaching assistants in 500 pre-schools by 2011.
