SeaWorld San Diego has given flight to the tallest, fastest and longest dive coaster in California this month.

The coaster’s name was chosen as the Emperor is the world’s largest penguin which has tremendous underwater diving skills, like the new attraction.

SeaWorld is also the only place the actual Emperor penguin can been seen in North America.

The Emperor dive coaster has a maximum height of 153ft with a 45 degree angle at the start of the ride. Then comes the main vertical drop of 143ft.

The attraction reaches speeds of up to 60mph as it travels through various inversions, a hammerhead turn, Immelmann loop and a barrel roll for good measure. The ride spans over 2500ft in total.

John Dunlap, Park President at SeaWorld San Diego said of The Emperor: “Our fans are eager to ride Emperor and we’re grateful for their enthusiasm and excitement to jump on this adrenaline-pumping dive coaster.

“Due to the unprecedented challenges of the last two years, the opening was delayed, we know this has been disappointing and we’d like to thank our guests for their patience for this long-awaited ride to open.”
