Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea are to stay closed until early April due to fears of the spread of coronavirus.

Universal Studios in Osaka is to remain closed until March 22. Both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea have been closed since February 29 and were expected to reopen on March 16.

However, following Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s request for sport and cultural events to be cancelled or postponed for a further ten days, the theme park operator has announced a delay in opening.

A series of popular tourist sites in Japan, including the Toyko Skytree, have been temporarily closed due to coronavirus fears.

The number of infected cases in Japan is around 1,200, 700 of which originated on the Diamond Princess cruise ship, which has been quarantined near Tokyo since February.
