Oakwood, the largest theme park in Wales, has announced details of an ambitious expansion investment that includes the arrival of two new rides this year.
Following a £400,000 refurbishment, the popular Pembrokeshire attraction park is to launch a new family ride known as ‘Dizzy Disk’ in time for Easter. The park will also reinstate it much-loved thrill ride named Bounce.
Dizzy Disk is a family ride that involves riders facing outwards as they glide back and forth while simultaneously spinning in circles.
The thrill ride Bounce closed in 2016 but is set to reopen this summer having undergone a full restoration. Bounce will be Oakwood’s fifth largest thrill ride.
This latest expansion to the popular Welsh theme park, follows a £8.5M investment being pumped into the attraction site by parent company Aspro, which acquired Oakwood in 2008.
Part of the huge upgrade was a £4.5m development of a Peter Pan themed children’s area ‘Neverland’ in 2013.
Five years later, £1.5m was spent creating ‘Spooky Street’, a fun family zone which features new attractions, rides and restaurants.
Phil Verbinnen, park director at Oakwood Theme Park, spoke about the new attractions.
“We are excited to welcome our new ride ‘Dizzy Disk’ and reinstate Bounce to Oakwood, adding to our repertoire of fun, family friendly attractions at the park.
“We have invested significantly into the park in recent years, creating exciting new thrills for the family market, along with new catering and retail facilities which will add to the visitor experience.
“This new destination marks the start of our ambitious plans for further investment in the coming years, designed in response to visitor feedback.”
Dizzy Disk and Bounce join Oakwood’s collection of 27 rides and experiences designed for the whole family to enjoy.
