South-east Asia’s first Universal Studios theme park will open today (March 18) at Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore.

Featuring a range of attractions inspired by blockbuster movies including Jurassic Park and Shrek, the opening of the venue follows a major ribbon-cutting ceremony last month of Singapore’s first casino, also located at the US$4.4bn Resorts World complex.

Asia’s only other Universal Studios movie theme park is located in Japan, while two others are in California and Florida, US.

Nearly 150,000 people visited the casino in the week after opening on February 14, according to operator Genting Group.
