Scandinavia’s first dive coaster is set to open on Friday, August 10, at Liseberg in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Valkyria, by Bolliger & Mabillard, represents the park’s largest, most expensive and complicated attraction ever. Work has been ongoing on site since September 2016. Groundwork, which included the creation of an underground tunnel, took its time. But now the coaster is finally ready to transport the first paying guests around its thrilling 700m-long track.

The spectacular attraction features a signature 50 metre high dive, during which rides reach a top speed of 105 km/h. The total investment was around 300 million krona (€29m/$33m).

“It has been a tough project, but the result is worth the wait,” declares Liseberg CEO and current IAAPA chairman, Andreas Andersen. “We know that what we have built is a new Liseberg icon – a guest favourite that will put both Liseberg and Gothenburg on the map and help attract visitors for many years to come.”

To sample Valkyria, visitors to the popular city park must be at least seven years of age and 132cm tall. Either an all-in-one ride pass or four vouchers are required to ride.
