Treasure Island Resort and Casino in Minnesota, US, has cut the ribbon on a new $19m waterpark.

Nine months in development, Lagoon is a 40,000sq.ft waterpark that features a 320ft lazy river, two body slides, a waterfall and an island in the middle of the main pool.

There is also an adult-only pool and two hot tubs, one inside and one outside. The Barefoot Bar is the only swim up bar in Minnesota with tables and seats in the pool.

The upscale Wave Spa, meanwhile, is a full service salon and spa that offers hair services, massages, manicures, pedicures, facials, waxing, make-up and nail services.

“The Lagoon waterpark and Wave Spa are key elements in the continued growth of Treasure Island,” Shelley Buck, spokesperson for Treasure Island.

“These new amenities will truly round out the resort aspect of what we offer our guests and will position us to be the favourite Midwest vacation destination.”

Eddie Lynn, general manager of Treasure Island, added: “This is the third major project we have completed in the past year. Last February we opened Tado Steakhouse and we renovated and totally transformed Tradewinds Buffet during the summer.”
