April 7 saw Universal Studios Hollywood cut the ribbon on its new Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction.

Joining similar licensed attractions in Toyko, Japan, and Orlando, Florida, the new attraction was sold out on the opening day, as thousands of Harry Potter fans lined up to experience the new amusement area.

The much-anticipated attraction includes a recreation of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, with features such as Professor Dumbledore’s office, the Portrait Gallery and the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom.

The surrounding Hogsmeade village includes shops such as Honeydukes, Owl Post, Wiseacres Wizarding Equipment, Dervish and Banges, Gladrags Wizardwear and Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods.

“I am delighted to see The Wizarding World of Harry Potter brought to life in a way that is so close to what I imagined when writing the books,” said Harry Potter’s creator, author JK Rowling.

“I’m thrilled that Harry Potter fans can now experience the wonderful immersive experience created at Universal Studios Hollywood.”
